You need a reference letter for a new job application. Write a letter to your former employer. In your letter:
Introduce yourself and remind them of your role in the company
Explain why you need a reference
Request them to provide a reference for you
Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Sample answer
Dear Hr Department,
I am Abu Syed, a former junior software developer of your prestigious company. I used to work on writing code, queries about new software, and also solving any sort of error on code. I worked for your company from April 2022 to August 2024. On my period of working there I received a lot of positive reviews about my work ethics and punctuality.
However, for a better opportunity and growth of my career I moved to a different company with a higher designation. Nowadays, I am working as a senior software developer at MCC (Multi-colour Corporation) in Canada. Right now, my company is going through a detailed background verification for all employees, and they ask for reference letters from all employees.
In addition, it would be greatly appreciated if you can provide me a reference letter; mentioning all my duties and responsibilities while I was working for your company, along with a signature of my previous team leader and my supervisor.
